After 27 years of unchallenged reign over Burkina Faso, president Blaise Compaoré and his government announced on the 21st of October their intention to amend the constitution so that they can stay in power. This led to a wave of protests and objections: streets were being blocked, meetings and marches were organized, people expressed their disagreement for days. On the 3oth of October, the day scheduled to vote the law, the anger of the people reached its height. Millions took the streets across the country. In Ouagadougou, the National Assembly was stormed and burned. On Friday the 31st of October, the regime of Blaise Compaoré fell and the president left the country.
