Short Film

Burkina Faso in 1987 is a country in the throes of a revolution. Manu is an eight-year-old who loves comics. When his big brother Albert decides to take part in a magic ritual to become invincible, Manu realises there are real powers to rival those of his comic book superheroes. Directed by Cédric Ido, Twaaga is a film about a young child’s superhero obsession, explicitly set against the background of (and contrasted with) Thomas Sankara’s revolution in Burkina Faso.
